Alicante TheatresA cultural touch for your holidays
A neo classical building, just turned 160 years old. Alicantinos had the idea, in the middle of the XIX century, to create a great coliseum that will bring happiness to the city. The proyect to build the theatre was initiated by the architect Emilio Jover with the donation of the land offered by the city hall. Its construction began in 1846 and was inaugurated on the 25th of September of 1847. Initially was named Teatro Nuevo but 10 years later it was renamed Teatro Principal.

Alicante is host to a all year-round range of cultural activities. The main venue in town for concerts,theatre, dance, opera and other cultural festivals is the Teatro Principal.
